Structural design and site supervision.
Studio Masera Ingegneria planned the structural restoration project of the “Messier di Grana”, a historic building in the centre of Moncalieri (Turin district – Italy). This building is protected by the Superintendence of Artistic and Cultural Heritage.
The Messier di Grana building’s structural system consists of masonry, timber and brickwork of different types.
Studio Masera Ingegneria carried out structural monitoring, the architectural survey and the structural and seismic strengthening project.
Studio Masera Ingegneria worked closely with the Polytechnic-university of Turin to study the mechanical behaviour of the masonry of this historic building. Davide Masera, assistant professor of structural mechanics at the Polytechnic-university of Turin, acted as consultant for the structural model analysis of the building and laboratory data interpretation of the brick wall specimens.
