Masera Engineering Group has collaborated on this project with Professor Bocca’s Research Group in the Structural, Geotechnical and Building Engineering Department of the Polytechnic University of Turin.
Experimental analysis of a set of strengthened masonry walls has been carried out by means of cyclic loading tests in order to simulate creep effects. Laboratory tests were carried out at the Polytechnic University of Turin’s non-destructive testing laboratory: ad hoc brickwork specimens were manufactured and reinforced with FRP and strengthening mortar. The main goal of this experimental work is to demonstrate that when choosing masonry reinforcement, it is important to assess not only the increment of the ultimate strength of the material reinforced, but also its response and durability in terms of the long-term action known as the creep phenomenon.
