Davide Masera will participate as an invited speaker at the conference “Our World In Concrete & Structures”, that is going to be held at Goodwood Park Hotel, Singapore, 26-28 August 2015.The contribution of Davide Masera is titled “Effect Of Wind Loads On Non Regularly Shaped High-Rise Buildings”. The conference saw a special appearance by Mark Sarkisian, CEO of San Francisco office of the famous American engineering company Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM).

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the tallest high-rise building in the world, called as “Burj Khalifa” in Dubai. Mark is partner of Seismic and Structural Engineering in the San Francisco office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, has developed engineering solutions for over 100 building projects around the world including some of the tallest and most complex.

Studio Masera Ingegneria will conduct the seismic vulnerability assessment of the public building called as “Ex Tribunale” located in Salita Padre Denza street in Moncalieri – Turin district (Italy). The construction was built in the second half of the eighteenth century; the structural frame is in masonry structure. In these last years the “Ex Tribunale” building hosted the separate branch of Turin Ordinary Court.

Masera Engineering Group will be collaborate with Pininfarina Aerodynamics & Aeroacoustic Research Center in order to study the aerodynamics tall buildings behaviour. The aerodynamics tall buildings behavior will be studied by means of several wind gallery analysis together with FEM advanced modelling. Forces and deformation measurements, pressure probes, acoustic comfort will be analyzed in order to choose the tall building best shape. One of the first case history analyzed will be Marina Casablanca Tower. Marina Casablanca Tower is an high-rise building with an irregular polygon shape. Tower’s stories number is 47 for 167 metre height.

North West Engineering will develop the preliminary structural design for the high-rise building in the new tourist compound of Marina Casablanca called as “New Marina Casablanca”.

North West Engineering will developed the preliminary structural design for the tower in the new tourist compound of Marina Casablanca called as “New Marina Casablanca”. The shape plant tower will be an irregular polygon with ten sides; the tower stories number will be 47 for 167 metre height. Every tower floor will be 800 square metre extension. Tower will be realized with a reinforced concrete frame: the core will be realized with semicircular reinforced concrete wall instead the floors will be built with a reinforced concrete solid slabs.

Congress centre will be composed by an auditorium with 800 pews, a multi-function room for 2000 people, a ballroom for 2000 people, 8 meeting rooms, an observation platform with wellness and restaurant areas. The total extension of congress centre will be 40.000 square metre for five main stories.

Prof. Ferro is a full professor of Structural Mechanics at Politecnico di Torino; Eng. Davide Masera is a assistant professor of Structural Mechanics at Politecnico di Torino. Master Thesis will be about the structural modelling of the existing industrial and commercial buildings under seismic load condition; in this work will be analyzed and compared several retrofitting techniques in order to evaluate the structural behaviour of several structures.

Studio Masera Ingegneria will plan the structural restoration project of the “Messier di Grana” palace in the old town centre of Moncalieri (Turin district – Italy). The historical building is protected by the Superintendency of Artistic and Cultural Heritage.

Messier di Grana building show a structural system in masonry and wood with several kind of bricks. Studio Masera Ingegneria will carry out the structural monitoring, the architectural survey, the structural and seismic strengthening project.

Studio Masera Ingegneria will cooperate with the Politecnico di Torino laboratory in order to study the mechanical behaviour of the historical masonry structure. Eng. Davide Masera, assistant professor of structural mechanics at the Politecnico di Torino, will provide a specialist consulting for the structural model analysis of the historical palace and laboratory data interpretation of the brick wall specimens.
